This one starts with Veronica doing some paperwork on Sunday at her dad’s office. She doesn’t officially work for him anymore, but I guess she still helps with clerical stuff. A woman (Julie Bloch) comes in desperate to hire Keith to dig up some dirt on her boyfriend, Colin Nevin. She recently found an engagement ring while rooting through his gym bag and wants to figure out if he’s trustworthy before making a bigger commitment. (Yes, Julie is irony-impaired.) Episode 3: Cheaty Cheaty Bang Bang
This one starts with Veronica attending a meeting of the Future Business Leaders of America, a school group her Guidance Counselor suggested she join to pad her stats for college. Aside from her, the class is all rich kids (Duncan, Logan, Dick, Beaver) and the teacher (Mr. Pope) introduces the guest speaker for today … Dick Casablancas Sr., Dick and Beaver’s dad. Veronica Mars Reviews: Season 2, Episode 2
This one starts with Veronica contemplating the big bus crash from the end of last episode. We find out that everyone on the bus died except, who’s alive but unconscious, like Gerald Ford. (Sorry, old Airplane joke.) Meg’s in a coma and Veronica feels guilty, not just for avoiding the accident by dumb luck, but because Meg might’ve avoided it too if she’d still been dating Duncan. Episode 1: Normal is the Watchword
This is the first episode of Veronica Mars second season, where we find out what’s happened since all the fireworks in last season’s finale. There are a lot of flashbacks in this episode, revealing the new status quo a little at a time. That’s a device that sometimes works, but it can get annoying too. it’s not too bad here, although there’s one reveal they save until later in the show that makes it seem like they were bending over backwards not to give it away. Episode 22: Leave It to Beaver
Well, this is it … the last episode of the first season, where Veronica (and the viewers) finally find out who killed Lilly. Hang on, ’cause this one gets pretty wild. We start with Keith talking to a newspaper reporter, trying to convince him to write about Abel Koontz being innocent of Lilly Kane’s murder. The reporter is skeptical, but Keith gives him a file full of evidence and introduces him to Koontz’s alibi, the hooker named Cheyenne. The reporter says he’ll check things out. Episode 21: A Trip to the Dentist
This one deals with rape and there’s a lot of slipping stuff into people’s drinks without their knowledge, so if that kind of thing bothers you, you might want to skip this episode. It starts in Havana, Cuba, where Keith has managed to find Duncan by tracing the fake passport he used. (Interestingly, Duncan is reading the Globe & Mail, a Toronto paper; as far as I know, the show was filmed in California, not Canada. But Canada has always had trade with Cuba, and Canadians are allowed to travel there, so maybe the Globe & Mail is sold there.) Continue reading “Veronica Mars Reviews: Season 1, Episode 21”
Veronica Mars Reviews: Season 1, Episode 20
This one starts with Veronica’s crappy car broken down in the school parking lot. Logan and a couple of his asshole friends come by and when his friends start talking crap about Veronica, Logan’s ready to defend her. But she and Logan agreed to keep their relationship a secret until they can figure things out, so Veronica makes fun of herself as she fixes her car to stop Logan from giving them away. Veronica Mars Reviews: Season 1, Episode 19
This one starts with Veronica at the office helping Weevil with his math. Weevil asks about Duncan suddenly taking off (with $10,000 in cash) and about the rumours Veronica accused him of killing his sister, Lilly. Veronica denies that, but it’s obvious she thinks there’s more to Lilly’s murder than everyone believes. They’re interrupted by Veronica’s dad coming in. Being the former sheriff, Keith’s not too thrilled about his daughter hanging out with the local thug. Continue reading “Veronica Mars Reviews: Season 1, Episode 19”

Episode 18: Weapons of Class Destruction
This one starts with Veronica and Leo making out on her doorstep. Leo’s pretty brazen about wanting to come in for some hot sex, but Veronica puts him off by saying her dad’s home. I’m assuming she hasn’t told Leo about being drugged and raped last year. When she goes in, Keith is waiting up for her (while pretending not to, as fathers do). He’s acting a little weird and Veronica wonders if he’s got a problem with her and Leo, but it turns out Keith has been seeing someone too and wants to clue Veronica in, since he’s started to have real feelings for this woman. Who has Keith been dating on the sly? Only Alicia, Wallace’s mom. Continue reading “Veronica Mars Reviews: Season 1, Episode 18”
Veronica Mars Reviews: Season 1, Episode 17
Last episode, Veronica found out Abel Koontz has a daughter (Amelia DeLongpre), which explains why he took the fall for Lilly’s murder. The Kanes’ payoff wouldn’t mean much to Koontz (who’s dying of cancer), but if the money went to his estranged daughter, that would give him incentive to take the blame for something he didn’t do. Unfortunately, Jake Kane’s security chief (Clarence Wiedman) knows Veronica’s onto his shenanigans, so she has to find Amelia before Wiedman does.
