Xena Season 2 Overview

As I did for Season 1, I’ll be discussing the themes I see in the second season and trying to relate them to the show as a whole. I won’t link to individual episodes, since you can access them in the Tag Cloud under Xena Season 1 or Xena Season 2. This one starts with Cupid trying to get his son (Bliss) to go to bed because Cupid’s wife Psyche is in the mood for some lovin’. This one starts with Xena and Gabi on a merchant ship that breaks up in a storm. Gabi manages to hang onto some flotsam (and Xena’s sword, which Xena gave her to cut the rigging during the storm) and gets picked up by a passing ship, along with a pirate from a ship that was trying to board the merchant vessel. Xena and Gabi are fishing in the wilderness when Gabi reels in a dying Greek soldier, who tells them his unit was attacked by the Horde. Gabi has never heard of the Horde, but Xena immediately freaks, telling her they have to run. This one starts with Xena and Gabi walking by the seashore, with Gabi trying to get Xena to relax and enjoy life more. They hear the sounds of a fight and run down to shore to help a guy fight off a horde of pirates. He turns out to be Ulysses and says someone’s trying to stop him from getting home. This one starts with Gabi and Xena in a village, where Gabi decides to do some shopping while Xena goes for lunch. Gabi gets jumped by a guy named Palaemon and when Xena comes to look for her, Palaemon tells her he killed Gabi and now he’s going to kill Xena too. This one starts with thugs attacking Xena and Gabi’s campsite early in the morning. Xena wakes up and uses the cooking utensils to pound the attackers, while Gabi sleeps through another fight.
