Comics Reviews: Justice League America 26, Justice League Europe 2, Legion of Super-Heroes 60

Justice League America 26 coverJustice League America #26 – “Slice and Dice” – Keith Giffen, J.M. DeMatteis/Ty Templeton/Joe Rubinstein

The title of this comic officially changes (again) with this issue, but I’ll keep referring to it with the same Tag to make searching for it on my site easier. This story starts with Blue Beetle on monitor duty and hating every boring minute of it. Oberon’s not happy either, since he has to keep reminding Beetle to pay attention. Beetle takes a phone call while Oberon goes to complain to Max Lord about his slacking off. Xena Reviews: Season 5, Episode 21

Xena title cardEve – Director: Mark Beesley/Writers: George Strayton, Tom O’Neill

This one starts with Xena, Gabi, Joxer, and Virgil following Livia’s trail. Gabi is sure they can bring out the innate goodness in Livia, but Xena worries her daughter is beyond redemption. Xena and the others find the carnage and realize how bad Livia really is. Continue reading “Xena Reviews: Season 5, Episode 21”

Comics Reviews: Batman 433, Detective 600

Batman 433 coverBatman #433 – “Period of Mourning” – John Byrne/Jim Aparo/Mke DeCarlo

This is the first chapter of the Many Deaths of the Batman storyline and it’s done in an interesting way, with almost no dialogue. The art is great and really tells the story well, but the lack of dialogue makes for a very fast read. It starts with the cops being summoned to the scene of a crime, but when they arrive they’re shocked to see the victim is Batman, who’s been beaten and tied to a fence. As she lays dying, Chuma tells Wonder Woman how Minerva gained the Cheetah powers. She’d led an archaeological expedition into the jungle and run into Chuma’s tribe, who worship a plant god called Uzkartaga. Continue reading “Comics Reviews: Wonder Woman 29, Firestorm 84”

Xena Reviews: Season 5, Episode 20

Xena title cardLivia – Director: Rick Jacobson/Writer: Chris Manheim

This one starts with a bloodthirsty general named Livia leading Roman troops in slaughter and slave-taking. She’s congratulated by Ares, who’s happy that she’s been named successor to the Roman Emperor, and that they’ll soon be able to wipe out all of Eli’s followers.
