Pete gives an impassioned defense, but the Regents had already made their minds up; since Artie wasn’t really himself when he killed Leena (and his use of the astrolabe saved the world) he won’t be punished. Claudia stabbed Artie to get rid of his evil side, but the sweating sickness plague spread rapidly over the entire planet, infecting everyone.
