Silver Swan’s old friend (Maxine) doesn’t think Silver Swan could be this cruel on her own, blaming Swan’s husband (Henry Armbruster) for pushing her into it. This one starts with four Legionnaires discussing some kind of plan they have, something they’re keeping secret from their teammates. Brainiac 5 is one of them, but the others are in the shadows. (Going by their hands on the splash page, I’d say Mon-El is definitely one of them, plus a couple of unidentifiable women.) This is an extra-long anniversary issue, with guest art from Kurt Schaffenberger, Curt Swan, Dave Cockrum, Mike Grell, Keith Giffen, and Dick Giordano. It has a very nostalgic tone, focusing mostly on Lightning Lad (and Saturn Girl and Cosmic Boy) and a lot of it is just retellings of classic Legion stories. We got a glimpse of the overall premise last issue, with the three Luck Lords plotting something to do with Garth (Lightning Lad) Ranzz and this story starts with them still scheming.
