Last issue, two crooks were hired anonymously (through a tape recording) to blow up the mountain house of Cecile Horton, Flash’s lawyer. A tabloid reporter and his assistant were planting bugs in the house at the time of the explosion, but the reporter survives. Flash is still talking to the mayor (whose life he saved last issue) and learns that the mayor’s recent bad-mouthing of Flash wasn’t his idea. Flash finds the micro-transmitter in the mayor’s ear and figures out who is probably behind it. This one starts with a space shuttle in orbit around Earth getting blasted by a Martian warship. Firestorm and J’onn (Martian Manhunter) J’onzz fly up to help, but Firestorm is pretty suspicious of J’onn. Even though J’onn came to Earth last issue to warn of his fellow Martians’ plan to invade, Firestorm wonders if J’onn might secretly be in league with the other Martians. (He’s not … the Martians consider him a traitor to their race.) Yes, this is the same kid from Superman 388 with the weird mental powers. Mickey pretends to be the Man of Steel saving a jet falling from the sky. This one starts with a robot penguin toddling toward a jewelry store late at night. The robot explodes and the Penguin (naturally) shows up to loot the place before disappearing. Batman and the cops arrive soon after and Batman finds the head from the robotic penguin, which tells him who he’s dealing with. Back at Wayne Manor, Julia tells Alfred that she got a job at Picture News. Alfred is surprised Vicki hired her, since it’s obvious to him that Julia has the hots for Bruce Wayne.
