Last issue, Oliver (Green Arrow) Queen ran into a mysterious assassin and spent the evening drinking with him. Right after Oliver left, some guys arrived and blew up the assassin’s hotel room. Oliver hears the blast and heads back, but the assassin smelled trouble and headed up to the roof just ahead of the explosion. This one starts with Oliver (Green Arrow) Queen and Dinah (Black Canary) Lance having a quiet dinner at a jazz restaurant. Their quiet evening turns loud when some thugs come in to rob the place. Oliver and Dinah start kicking their asses, but almost get shot. They’re saved by a stranger at the bar who pulls out a gun and blows two of the robbers away. This one starts with Rumaan Harjavti (dictator of Bialya) rummaging through Maxwell Lord’s destroyed office for something that might help him strike back against the Justice League. But someone else had the same idea … the Joker. He’s found Max’s Rolodex, hoping there’s a clue to Batman’s identity in it. Harjavti proposes a trade-off: if Joker eliminates the JLI, Harjavti will use all his resources to narrow down the possibilities of Batman’s secret identity. This one starts with Polar Boy doubting himself as leader, which he’s been doing a lot lately. He’s worried because a lot of Legionnaires (including most of the heavy hitters) are absent. His fears are justified when he gets a report of a jailbreak on Labyrinth. Apparently the Khundian Garak of the Glow (who we saw imprisoned on Labyrinth last issue) was bioengineered so the energy cells have no effect on him. This one starts at Legion headquarters, where everyone is still reeling from Brainiac 5’s sudden departure last issue to return to his home planet of Colu. Brainy left a strange bio-construct to act as a sort of avatar for COMPUTO, but since it looks like a baby Validus, it kinda freaks everybody out. Polar Boy asks Dream Girl to be the new head scientist for the Legion but she refuses, advising him to stop relying so much on other people and figure things out for himself. Polar Boy is the one who brings the charge, but Saturn Girl argues that Rugarth was already brain-dead, so he had no real life to lose.
