Wonder Woman 33 coverWonder Woman #33 – “Secrets in the Sand” – George Perez/Chris Marrinan/Will Blyberg

This one starts with the Egyptian Amazons returning to their hidden city of Bana-Mighdal through an enchanted sandstorm, accompanied by Wonder Woman. Their new leader (Nehebka) has brought Diana to their sanctuary because she helped defeat Cheetah and recover their sacred treasure last issue. Diana was sickened by these Amazons’ bloodthirsty ways, but is curious about their artifact, which looks like the same girdle of Gaea that her tribe forged into her magic lasso. This one starts with Fire flying around New York, enjoying the feeling of freedom and exhilaration that comes with her new power-shift. Yes, as I’m sure all of you guessed, Fire can now turn her whole body into living flame like the Human Torch (who she’s almost mistaken for) thanks to the after-effects of the alien Gene Bomb. But she doesn’t know the limits of her new powers yet, so she heads back to the Embassy where Big Barda is waiting to train her and test those limits. Xena Reviews: Season 6, Episode 3

Xena title cardHeart of Darkness – Director: Mark Beesley/Writer: Emily Skopov

Last episode, Xena defeated Mephistopheles to free her mother (and other souls) from his curse, but now she’s supposed to take his place as ruler of Hell … the portal to which is still open in Amphipolis. This episode opens with Archangels Michael, Raphael, and Lucifer talking about Xena’s reluctance to take up the rulership of Hell. Lucifer says he can make her do it and head down to Earth. Last issue, Oliver (Green Arrow) Queen shot a kid who was aiming a paint gun at a cop, thinking it was a real gun. The kid lived and Green Arrow was cleared (since the cop also tried to shoot the kid and missed), but the judge gave him shit for being a reckless vigilante and Green Arrow’s guilt drove him to drink heavily. Justice League America 28 coverJustice League America #28 – “A Date With Density” – Keith Giffen, J.M. DeMatteis/Ty Templeton, Mike McKone/Joe Rubinstein

This one starts with Fire getting out of bed and putting her costume on. She’s been confined to bed for a few days because of whatever happened a couple issues ago. They’re being very secretive about it, but I’m guessing her powers spontaneously upgraded so she can burst into flames like the Human Torch.
