Warehouse 13 Reviews: Season 1, Episode 1

Opening titleEpisode 1: Pilot

Welcome to my first review of Warehouse 13. I’ve never seen this show before, though I remember thinking it looked interesting when it was on, so I’m going in with no preconceptions other than knowing the basic premise of the series (two Secret Service agents investigate weird phenomena and work in a gigantic government warehouse that’s off the grid). I’ll give my overall impressions at the end of the review, so let’s just jump right into the first show. Technically, this could be counted as two episodes, since it was a two-hour premiere, but Wikipedia has it listed as Episode 1, so that’s what I’m going with. Lost Girl Overview/Warehouse 13 Preview

Lost GirlWell, I finished my reviews of Lost Girl last week, so today I’m going to do a brief overall review of the series and a quick preview of the next series I’ll be reviewing on Wednesdays. I remember seeing ads for Lost Girl when it first came out and thinking it looked pretty cool, so I started watching and liked it immediately. The humour was great, I like the way they used mythology, and there was enough sex and violence to keep it interesting. Continue reading “Lost Girl Overview/Warehouse 13 Preview”

Lost Girl Reviews: Season 5, Episode 16

Lost GirlEpisode 16: Rise

Last episode, Bo pretended to switch sides and join her father (Hades) in his plan to destroy the world. Hades as understandably skeptical of her sudden heel turn, so he asked her to demonstrate her loyalty by killing her friends. She lured everyone to her place and lit it on fire with them inside, which seemed to convince her father that she was sincere in her newfound villainy. Lost GirlEpisode 15: Let Them Burn

Last episode ended with Vex getting his throat slit by Hades to send a message; this one starts with Bo’s house on fire. Dyson, Kenzi, Lauren, and Mark rush in, looking for Bo, but she’s nowhere to be found. Kenzi notices a burnt-out microwave oven (and what looks like Tamsin’s blanket hanging above it) and announces that Hades is responsible for the fire, but we see Bo standing outside with a gas can in her hand. Lost Girl Reviews: Season 5, Episode 14

Lost GirlEpisode 14: Follow the Yellow Trick Road

Last episode ended with a bang, as Bo found the bodies of her mother and Trick, murdered by her father, Hades. When Dyson found her, Bo was in some sort of catatonic state. This episode starts with her waking up at home … except it’s not quite how she remembers it. Everything is in black and white except Bo’s dress, a red-checked number. Her hair is also in pigtails. That, combined with the episode’s title, makes me think this is going to be a Wizard of Oz homage, though Bo likens it to a rerun of Lucy. Continue reading “Lost Girl Reviews: Season 5, Episode 14”

Lost GirlEpisode 13: Family Portrait

This one starts with Bo showing Tamsin the “weapon” that Hephaestus forged for her … a horseshoe. Tamsin tries to make the best of it, saying Bo could use it like knuckle-dusters, as a back-scratcher, or as a non-returning boomerang. Bo’s not impressed. Lost GirlEpisode 12: Judgement Fae

This one starts (like many before) with a sex scene; Bo and Lauren are going at it in the shower. But now that Lauren has the ability to mimic the powers whatever Fae she touches, their encounter is more balanced, allowing them to drain each other mutually. Lost Girl Reviews: Season 5, Episode 11

Lost GirlEpisode 11: Sweet Valkyrie High

This one starts with a little romance … very little, since Lauren’s new mimic powers make it difficult for her and Bo to connect. Bo wants to talk about it, but Lauren switches the topic to Hades, Bo’s father. Bo is conflicted, knowing Hades is bad (duh), but also grateful for the help he’s given her lately. Lost GirlEpisode 10: Like Father, Like Daughter

This one starts with Bo and Dyson staking out Zee’s place, waiting for her to show up so hey can confront her. Lauren calls and asks about Bo reviving her at the end of last episode. To me, it looked obvious that Lauren was sucking the chi from Bo—the implication being that Lauren’s messing around trying to extend her life span has turned her into a succubus. Lost GirlEpisode 9: 44 Minutes to Save the World

At the end of last episode, Bo opened the box that her father sent her as a birthday present. Zee (aka Zeus) freaked out, saying that would allow Hades (Bo’s father) to walk the Earth, but Bo reasoned it might take one kind of evil to fight another. Zee took off when she heard the box open, and Bo was bathed in light from the now open box. Continue reading “Lost Girl Reviews: Season 5, Episode 9”
