This one starts with Barry Allen and Detective Frank Curtis attending a birthday party for toy magnate W.W. Wiggins’s ten-year-old son. Barry and Frank aren’t there voluntarily; Captain Frye forced them to attend because Wiggins contributes heavily to the police department pension fund, so Frye wants to keep Wiggins happy by having a few cops at the party. Comics Reviews: JLA 203, Legion of Super-Heroes 288, New Teen Titans 20, All-Star Squadron 10

This issue is a bit different because a lot of the story is told from the villains’ points of view. But it starts with a couple of good guys (Aquaman and Firestorm) hanging out in the southern Pacific Ocean (with Aquaman surfing on a couple of dolphins). Aquaman has brought Firestorm there for some training, but he’s also hoping to give the young hothead an attitude adjustment; Firestorm has been acting a bit too cocky lately, jumping into situations before being properly prepared, so Aquaman has decided to give him a lesson in humility. This one starts with a couple of WGBS traffic reporters in their helicopter over Metropolis. The reporters almost have heart attacks when a black meteorite streaks by, but Superman is soon on the scene to take care of things. The meteorite turns out to be made of anti-matter, which means if it touches any positive matter (of which Metropolis and Superman are made) it’ll cause an explosion that annihilates both forms of matter. This one starts with Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson, and Alfred moving a bunch of stuff back into the original Batcave under Wayne Manor. That’s right, Bruce has finally decided to move back to the Manor, both as Bruce and as Batman. After almost getting squished when the giant penny rolls off its moorings, the trio are summoned by the doorbell upstairs.
