Flash 309 coverFlash #309 – “How Do You Kill a Legend?” – Cary Bates/Carmine Infantino/Dennis Jensen

This one starts with a time-traveler from the future appearing in a fancy spaceship (or time-ship, I guess) in 1982. He buzzes several superhero haunts (the Fortress of Solitude, Wayne Manor, Paradise Island, and the JLA Satellite) before heading down to Earth. In Central City, Barry Allen is out jogging with his boss, Captain Frye of the Central City Police Department. They’re interrupted when the time-ship zooms overheard and grabs Barry, leaving Frye behind. Continue reading “Comics Reviews: Flash 309, Wonder Woman 291, Green Lantern 152, Jonah Hex 60”

JLA 202 coverJustice League of America #202 – “Star Fall” – Gerry Conway/Don Heck/Brett Breeding (and friends)

This one starts with Batman doing some routine maintenance on the outer hull of the JLA Satellite. Hawkman is monitoring him from inside and thinks he should be the one out in space, not Batman. But apparently the Leaguers take turns doing EVA stuff and it was Batman’s turn this time. Hawkman’s worries prove right though, as Batman accidentally drops a tool and shorts out a main power circuit. Superman 371 coverSuperman #371 – “Kandor Lives Again” – Len Wein/Curt Swan/Dave Hunt

Last issue, Superman returned to his Fortress of Solitude to find the tiny model of Kandor he’d built was now occupied by tiny people. As this issue starts, Superman at first thinks he’s going crazy but the minuscule aliens soon convince him otherwise. They tell him they’re from a planet called Sh’str, a near-Utopian world in another dimension where society was devoted to peace and the pursuit of knowledge. Comics Reviews: Batman 347, Detective 514, Brave & the Bold 186

Batman 347 coverBatman #347 – “The Shadow of the Batman” – Roger Slifer/Trevor von Eeden/Pablo Marcos

This is obviously a filler issue and Batman doesn’t even appear except in flashbacks, so I’m not going to spend too much time on it. Basically, it’s about a couple of punks (one is named Barry, we don’t learn the other guy’s name) talking about robbing a bank. Barry is worried, since committing a crime in Gotham is a great way to get your ass kicked by Batman. Continue reading “Comics Reviews: Batman 347, Detective 514, Brave & the Bold 186”
