This one starts with Superman doing a favour for some oil drillers by removing a big rock that’s been impeding their drill. As soon as Superman gets the rock in the air, it starts growing at an alarming rate. He figures the “rock” is some ancient weapon, buried on Earth long ago and meant to expand so much as to destroy the entire planet and that he must’ve triggered it when he moved it. This one starts at a Renaissance Faire, where the “King” tells the crowd that whoever wins the tournament later will win his daughter’s hand in marriage. This one starts with Batman swinging around Hollywood, and I mean literally swinging, on his Batline. He’s in La-La Land to check out the Crime Academy, a school for crooks which he’s managed to infiltrate as Matches Malone. After killing some time, he calls home but there’s no answer. Batman finds that strange, since either Dick or Alfred should be there. But as we saw last issue, Dick (aka Robin) trailed his former girlfriend (Dala) to a spooky old country house where he got bashed on the head. This one starts with Barry Allen and Detective Frank Curtis attending a birthday party for toy magnate W.W. Wiggins’s ten-year-old son. Barry and Frank aren’t there voluntarily; Captain Frye forced them to attend because Wiggins contributes heavily to the police department pension fund, so Frye wants to keep Wiggins happy by having a few cops at the party. Last episode, Claudia found out her sister (Claire) didn’t die in the car accident that killed their parents, and that Artie has been keeping the truth from her ever since they’ve known each other. Artie insists Claire is dangerous, but Claudia obviously wants to find out whatever she can about her sister. She checks out old news reports and notices the car seems to have smashed into a tree at a strange angle … like it flung itself at the tree sideways. Comics Reviews: JLA 203, Legion of Super-Heroes 288, New Teen Titans 20, All-Star Squadron 10

This issue is a bit different because a lot of the story is told from the villains’ points of view. But it starts with a couple of good guys (Aquaman and Firestorm) hanging out in the southern Pacific Ocean (with Aquaman surfing on a couple of dolphins). Aquaman has brought Firestorm there for some training, but he’s also hoping to give the young hothead an attitude adjustment; Firestorm has been acting a bit too cocky lately, jumping into situations before being properly prepared, so Aquaman has decided to give him a lesson in humility. This one starts with a couple of WGBS traffic reporters in their helicopter over Metropolis. The reporters almost have heart attacks when a black meteorite streaks by, but Superman is soon on the scene to take care of things. The meteorite turns out to be made of anti-matter, which means if it touches any positive matter (of which Metropolis and Superman are made) it’ll cause an explosion that annihilates both forms of matter. Last episode (which was also the final episode of Season 4), Paracelsus tapped into the Warehouse and took control. Artie, Steve, Mrs. Frederick, and Pete left right before Paracelsus erected a force field around the Warehouse, but Claudia stayed behind. This one starts with Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson, and Alfred moving a bunch of stuff back into the original Batcave under Wayne Manor. That’s right, Bruce has finally decided to move back to the Manor, both as Bruce and as Batman. After almost getting squished when the giant penny rolls off its moorings, the trio are summoned by the doorbell upstairs. This one starts with a time-traveler from the future appearing in a fancy spaceship (or time-ship, I guess) in 1982. He buzzes several superhero haunts (the Fortress of Solitude, Wayne Manor, Paradise Island, and the JLA Satellite) before heading down to Earth. In Central City, Barry Allen is out jogging with his boss, Captain Frye of the Central City Police Department.
